Is it time for a new boiler?
If your boiler breaks down frequently, it may be time to consider replacing it. The cost of calling out an engineer more than once a year (in addition to your annual boiler service) can quickly add up to more than the price of a new one.
As boilers age, replacement parts become scarce and more costly, turning simple repairs into expensive hassles. Older boilers are also less efficient, which means higher running costs!
A well-looked-after gas boiler typically lasts between 10 and 15 years (assuming your boiler is serviced annually). If your boiler is approaching this age, it’s time to consider replacing it.

Your FAQs on gas boiler repairs
In this section, we answer some of your frequently asked questions on gas boiler repairs.
How much does a boiler repair cost?
The cost of a boiler repair is determined by the complexity of the fault, the make and model of the boiler, and its age. Old boilers are more expensive to repair as parts are pricier and harder to find. Additionally emergency repairs cost more as you’re paying for an out-of-hours visit from an engineer.
What are the most common boiler problems?
The most common boiler problems include leaks, low pressure, thermostat issues, and pilot light failures. These issues can lead to inconsistent heating, reduced efficiency, and potential breakdowns.
Is it worth repairing a 15 year old boiler?
The average servie life of a gas boiler is between 10 and 15 years. If your boiler is nearing the end of its life then it’s not worth repairing it. The cost of repairing an old boiler can soon add up which isn’t a worthwhile investment. If your boiler needs repairing more than once a year then it’s time to consider replacing it.
How much do boiler engineers charge per hour?
Our callout fee (Monday to Friday) is £90 for the first 60 minutes and £20 for every 15 minutes thereafter. These prices include VAT at 20% and do not include any parts.
